The Glade

A quiet pocket of peace, outside of our regular reality. These pockets are usually home to naga families, who are tasked with tending to and protecting them from harm.

Another world I developed a lot through roleplay!

Glades exist outside normal perception and space. Physically, they are 'in a spot'/ tethered to a specific place on Earth, however mortals cannot access them normally. You need to either intend to fall into a Glade, or otherwise be in the right mindset and know the correct technique and be in the right place at the right time, so it's extremely rare for something to stumble across a Glade. Even with all of these, it is still possible that the Glade will simply reject any entry. They are even able to move and shift physical locations.

As a gift, the Glades bestow any who live in them a temporary immortality. As long as they are within the confines of the Glade, they cannot age. When inside the Glade, the naga are also granted a special healing abiltiy- their snake venom becomes restorative when injected through bite, and can heal almost anything as long as you get to it in time.

It's unknown exactly what the Glades are. Many naga believe that they are manifestations of a god, some believe the glades are a god themselves, and are alive and sentient, which is how they choose who to let in. The truth is unknown, however, and among communities you'll likely find many different, slightly conflicting ideas.

Glades are usually passed down through families, the eldest child is given the task of tending to their family Glade. This is considered an extremely important task, as the Glades have connections with their gods and if a Glade is left devoid of any naga for too long, it will wilt and die. This is naturally a great dishonor, and a naga that lets their Glade perish is banished. It's known when a Glade dies, because all naga-kind will be able to feel their gods mourning.

The naga are a group of half-snake people. Their upper half typically appears more human- albeit with varying skin colours and scale patterns- while their bottom half takes the form of a snake. They're also able to shapeshift at will into the form of an actual snake.

They don't all live within Glades, however. That privilege is only bestowed to a few, especially since the Glades can die. Even outside, though, there is great importance put on community and family. You can often find big piles of naga cuddled up for warmth, since they're all cold-blooded. And talk and gossip is common between groups- it's rare something goes completely unnoticed!
