Ones first impression of July might be that he's a very polite, soft-spoken and timid boy. He may also hint at having some hidden secrets, he rarely shows his teeth and never gives his last name, but it's easy to attribute that to being a little shy or maybe self conscious. He's jumpy and alert, and has a strange ability to sense when someone is nearby. It's near impossible to sneak up on him. If you're able to find him in the first place, he has a habit of somehow blending into dark corners perfectly.

Once you get to know him and allow him to relax, you'll learn that he often keeps his snarky comments and remarks to quiet whispers between friends where his target can't hear. He's quick to trust if you seem to be kind to him but judgy to those he doesn't know. He doesn't have many street-smarts and is still unexperienced with having the freedom he does and prefers to remain indoors. One might go so far as to say he's very averse to treading outside in the open, particularly alone.

Background

July was born into a rich family known only as the Sterlings. The whole family trended towards being very secretive and sometimes paranoid, particularly of the night. July was always forbidden to go out alone without proper supervision during the day and the mansion was entirely locked up during the nights. Nobody but Mr. Sterling knew exactly why this was, but he would get aggressive and frantic if anyone disobeyed.

The strictness didn't stop there, July was also often kept inside anyway being made to study when he wasn't eating and sleeping, often being punished with more work or being grounded if he slacked... Safe to say, July was not content with every single aspect of his life, down to what he wore, who he saw and what he ate being so regulated. The moment he turned 18 and found out his father had arranged a marriage, that was his final straw.

That night, he snuck away and ran off down the street in the dark, trusting that even if his family did notice they wouldn't dare leave the mansion. He was able to run all the way to the edge of town, where deep into the night he met a mysterious woman who took pity on him and offered to take him under her wing. If only he agreed to one small little thing.

To July, no price was too big, and he instantly agreed to become a vampire if it meant he would get his freedom. The one thing she didn't disclose was that he'd have to start living in a house that was essentially the furthest from what he'd grown up with. At least the other vampires who lived there were mostly kind and helped July to let go a bit.

Current Day

Currently, he lives in a decently sized but entirely abandoned house just outside of Lincoln. He hasn't managed to find a way to get out of the town, otherwise he might try to flee at the first chance he got. With Elias' help, he's set up a little space in a cellar, sleeping in an old wardrobe and waiting away the days.
